The Arab Woman Awards mission is to provide a culturally accepted platform to raise public awareness of the significant achievements of Arab women across the GCC & provide positive role models for young women. The ten-year vision is to have awarded over 500 inspirational, talented & deserving Arab women.Launched in 2009 the Arab Woman Awards were created by ITP Consumer Deputy Manager Director, Sue Holt, who kept coming across reports of talented, hardworking & inspiring Arab women. As the regions and womens ? publishing house she wanted to provide a platform to promote these women in a way that befitted their culture. The first awards were held in Dubai & now run annually in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait & the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia at private, by invitation only ceremonies.
The first awards were held in Dubai and winners included leading businesswoman Ingie Chalhoub, DAS Collection designers Hind and Reem Beljafla and the Inspirational Arab Woman of the Year 2009 Award was bestowed to HH Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs. The Arab Woman Awards have to date awarded over 230 Arab females from countries across United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The awards are nominated and judged by a private Judges Board selected by ITP due them being experts in their particular fields, having integrity and a wide knowledge of the women of the country. The role of each member of the Judges Board is to impartially select the most deserving candidate as per the criteria provided by ITP.
Standard criteria for every award includes that nominees should be female, of Arab descent, have achieved something outstanding in their particular field over the past 12 months, contributed positively to society and be a role model to young women. In 2013 ITP introduced the ability for people to put forward their own nominations.
